no i didnt do that for the codes. car seems to be running cooler with new thermostat. the car seems to be idling rough and it just now died while i was sitting here typing this. it started t die then it seemed like it tried to make a comeback...then just shot on down. I'm going for a test drive now because i need some gas anyway. im also going to try those codes again. thanks guys

Don't jump the gun, might not be a head gasket
My 95 Vert runs hot also, not to the red line but very hot, even on the highway. It did however bog down when the tranny did overheat (wire in the tranny harness broke
) Now I'm also looking at a new rad, the stock tranny cooler isn't cutting it. Mines a AODE with 3:73 it shifts WOT at about 5400. If I just bop about town it doesn't get very hot, but will at highway speeds.
Now if you head is blown, you will see different signs, white smoke out the tail pipes, milky/frothy engine oil, possibly bubbles in you rad fluid.

well i ran for codes correctly this time and no faults found again. I replaced the thermostat and now the cooling process is working wonderfully. still have the power loss and boggin down problem. I don't think the head gasket is messed up. But there is this kind of hiss sound coming from the left side of the engine. Well not really a hiss sound. It's hard to explain. It just showed up like 2 or 3 days ago. The car revs wonderfully in neutral. Even when I was pissed off and giving it hell yesterday it wouldn't hardly squal tires. I'd put it in neutral and lay on the gas a bit and then throw it in drive and it would spin for just like a second then it would bog down. Any comments would be great!!!
Oh yeah, took it on the freeway while ago. Barely hit 125...use to be 135 then 145 down hill
...where'd the power go if the cooling isn't a problem now???

not sure have you changed the Plugs the cap and the rotor as well as checked the coil? almost sounds like a spark issue..
heh.. i dont think my 5.0 vert can spin them even with a neut drop LOL.. man this is one heavy slow car without a 5 speed...
i hope I can breathe some life into this car...
my previous stangs were all 79-93 this is my first SN95 and I love the body it just feels gutless and runs ok... no accelleration really... 200 HP Maxima with an auto I rented the other day was faster than this car for sure..

I think I'm going to try and change out the radiator. I'm sure its original to the car just as the water pump was. 107,000 pretty good mileage for those. My car just started doing this when the temps got up. I need to check my timing also since I changed the pickup coil a few months ago and set it kinda high.
well, the car is cooling better than ever. I had to put a new distributer in about 8,000 miles ago and i changed all that. im gonna go buy a new rotor though because mine does look a little deteriated...
any other suggestions??

No what was removed was connected directly at the harness between it and the fan, I'll see if I can snap a picture of it tomorrow, and its about 2inches wide and about 4 inches long and 1 inch thick. When we flipped it over you could see where the unit was beginning to melt through the insulation.
Took all of one minute to pull out. CCRM that your refering has already been replaced on my car (which is why I'm not very impressed as that little sucker is worth a few bucks) from what I understand it tells the fan to come on an off, as well as controlling various other items under the hood. This little item (maybe I called it the wrong name, but it looks a relay to me) controls the fan itself and as I said its hooked up between the wiring harness and the fan.

It sounds like you're talkin about a recall circuit breaker, but I havent seen one to know.
You're right - the CCRM is simply a box of relays (for low speed, high speed, fuel pump, WOT relay and EEC relay, IIRC). The PCM and EDF control relay do the fan controlling - the relays just do the load switching.
I'd keep an eye on your fan wiring - if that CB was heating up, there's an overload in the circuit (that was the whole point of the CB, if that is indeed what you are referencing).

dont know if this will help because i just kinda skimmed through all the replys.... i was having the same problem i have a bunch of mods and since my car started peggin out on an autometer gauge 250 degrees i changed the thermostat to a 195 nothing, flushed the radiator nothing, i know its not the water pump because either it works or it doesnt(I.E. locks up or leaks fluid) then i noticed the very top two rows on the radiator were hot and the rest was cold. Needless to say the radiator is clogged up so now im waiting for the 2 core aluminum Fluidyne to show up. dont know if this helped but i thought id share my story.
