I have a 96 Cobra with what seems to be an overheating issue. A little background of what I have done and I believe might have caused this problem. This might be so because before any work happened, the car was running fine. I changed the water pump because of a leak. And since the coolant was drained, I changed the thermostat as well, along with the drive belt (since the water pump was off). After reinstalling all parts and replenishing the coolant, I started the car. At idle and car reach normal operating temperature, the car did not seem to overheat. The pointer on the temperature gauge pointed to the letter “M” on the word NORMAL in the temperature range-which was a normal reading before this “so called overheating issue”. Here is where I am dumb-founded…with the AC switch to LOW position and the car at idle, the temperature pointer rises a little (between “M” & “A”). When I am cruising at about 10 mph with the same AC setting, the temperature pointer shoots to the letter “L” (and hoovers a little pass the “L”). Is this a common issue? If not, what can I do to fix this?

Have you checked your VIN to see if the radiator recall has been done on your car? If not, call the dealership service department and ask.
