I've got a 2001 Mustang 3.8L coupe. My service engine light keeps showing up with a "Cylinder Head Overtemp" code. It happens even when the water temp is normal. I have a new water pump, thermostat, and cylinder temp sensor. The temperature gauge will go to redline if I use the heater however the heater is not leaking and is working extremely well (200 deg tested). The system has been bled of air, the flow is good, the radiator has a 30 deg difference coming and going. Everything seems to show it's working great, but this keeps happening and it's stumped my mechanics and the dealer mechanics don't have a clue. Has anyone got an idea what is happening?
Please email me at [email protected] if you have an idea. I very much appreciate your help.
