Oxygen Sensor Part Numbers

Talked with one of the tech guys from Bosch today about part numbers for their oxygen sensors, here's what he gave me:

13127 Upstream Oxygen Sensor
15716 Downstream Oxygen Sensor

15716 8.5" Wiring Harness
15717 13" Wiring Harness
15718 16" Wiring Harness

What I'm wondering is which sensors plug into the h-pipe? I'm assuming the downstream sensors, and the upstream plug in somewhere around the heads? Maybe I'm wrong, but which ones do I need? Should I replace them all?

Also, there shouldn't be any reason why I can't use the factory harness right? Based on the exhaust I have (in sig).

Also, these were the results from the code reader:

Results from 1st scan:

KOEO
111 = "System PASS"

Continous Memory
176 = "HEGO (HO2S) sensor fault/always lean"

KOER
314 = "(Cars ONLY): Thermactor air system/fault during engine run self-test / left side"
311 = "Thermactor air system/fault during engine run self-test"

Results from 2nd and 3rd scan were the same - except it didn't pull the 314 again, only on the first scan.

I'm assuming that the 311 is due to my missing smog pump. I'm not sure why it only pulled the 314 on the 1st scan, and not the 2nd or 3rd? Not sure about the 176 either?

I just bought 2 Bosch o2's a few day's ago.When I bought them there was two listings,one for before cat and one for after cat.I got the one's for before cat and they worked fine and plugged right into the factory plugs.They where like $65 each.I will see if I can get the part#'s for you tomorrow.As far as the one's that where listed as after cat I have no idea.....
 
Last time I looked, we only have two O2's total.

OBD-II cars (94+ V6's included, I assume. That might be a source of confusion) use the second set after the cat, but not 94-95 GT's.
 
The BOSCH o2's that I got are part# 13127.I have a Bassani exhaust and they fit no problem without any wire exstensions.When mine went bad I got codes 171 &172 which is for a bad rh side sensor.I changed both of them just to be on the safe side.They cost me like $65 each at pep boys.......Good luck :nice:
 
Generally, the only difference is the length of the wire. The 4 sensor setups are for OBD2 cars that monitor the performance of the Converters. When the after cat one reads over a certain number, they trigger a code for the cats to be replaced.
I remember finding a cross reference chart on the NTK website, and basically, they made one sensor for about 5 different bosch numbers. I think I ended up getting the Bosch 15716, because it was cheaper. (like 20.00 each). I'll see if I can dig up that chart....
Oh, it seems to work fine. I have a Tweecer R/T, and datalogging them seems to be right on.....

I would have bought the NTK's, if I could have found them local. I went with the Bosch, because I needed to get it done that day.......
I don't think it's that big of a difference in the long run, I just liked what I read at NTK's website. (Back when I was looking for a L1H1 for my Wideband Kit....)

Another question...

Should I hold off on replacing my o2 sensors until I have my afpr and gauge installed? I'm also installing new cats and a smog pump.

I'd like to avoid replacing the o2 sensors and fouling them because I'm running too rich.

So should I take care of everything at the same time - afpr, cats, smog pump, and o2 sensors?

Thoughts?
 
I don't think foul is the right term for O2 sensors. What makes you think you are running rich? The only accurate way to tell is with a WideBand. Everyting else is just guessing. (For our computer controlled, catalytic converted cars).
O2's just wear out. Bad o2's could cause a rich condition, and that would be what to change first. Then, get a WB or a Dyno with a WB, and actually see if you are rich...
The 176 makes me think you DO have a bad sensor, which, since it says alway lean, would dump extra fuel in.
Have you cleared your processor lately? (Disconnect the battery with lights on, wait a few minutes, and hook it back up.
If you do change your O2's you would want to do this to clear the KAM (Keep Alive Memory), since it will need to re-learn with the new O2's.....

There are chemicals and reactions which can damage the O2's. Ever notice how some cleaners, gasket makers, etc say that they are O2 safe? There ya go. Running rich will not necessarily kill off O2's, though it does shorten their lifespan if done indefinately (this is one reason that HEGO's last a good bit longer than EGO's - The HEGO's see less time running rich). But so long as one is not running retardedly rich, it should not make a huge difference.
