Has anyone swapped in a set of Ported-polished heads and cam on their 99-04 blown S281? I'm leaning that way right now...and just wanted to know what others had done and their results.

Which heads/cams did you use? How much boost did you lose and how much Hp/tq did you gain?

any info is helpful.

Thanks

I've seen it done on other cars, not particulary saleens.
The dollar per HP ratio isn't all that good. The heads/cams and supporting parts coupled with the labor makes this project extremely expensive, might as well just get a built longblock while your at it.

IMO, just use a better supercharger instead, unless you plan on going hardcore.

the big thing with doing all that, is you have to make sure you dont run into piston to valve clearance problems. The best stuff you can buy is hte Modular Powerhosue ported heads and blower cams. I'd call them and talk to them about it

To really take advantage of ported heads and cams you will probabley want to ditch the saleen blower. I have a pair of MPH heads I may be selling soon if your interested along with stage 2 cams. They have about 1k miles on them.

I'll be doing all the labor myself, as I'm pretty handy w/ a craftsman, so total cost won't be that outrageous.

Eventually I will be doing a built bottom, and the heads/cams will transfer over that motor when the time comes....

In the meantime, I'm just looking for a nice boost in power (with out a boost in boost LOL). I'm a N/A guy at heart, so my natural tendency is to make motor power first and FI power last.

Yeah, I actually may be very interested. Can you give me more info on the cam specs? As far as the heads, I'm not that familar w/ MPH stuff. I've been away from the Mustang world for about 4-5 years (I've been living in the LS1/LS6 zone for a while LOL), so I'm trying to dive in head first and soak up as much as possible.

Why are you swapping your setup? If you don't want to openly discuss, you can shoot me a PM.

....and yes, I realize the Saleen blower will be the bottle neck. In time, it will be replaced as well.

I'm normally a natural guy too, but the 2v engine doesn't have all that much natural potential.
302 stroker, ported heads, cams one of the 2v intakes, made 335rwhp NA on the dyno at my buddy's shop. Nice numbers, but with the saleen blower on there you'll just replace aspirated power with NA power, and since you really can't spin that SC too much more, the hp output doesn't change all that much.
The m90 is just so dated, use a KB or votech and you'll easily go 425rwhp+ and then some more when your lower end gets built up.
