PA Trans. AOD's, what are your thoughts?

A friend of mine has one. its an awesome transmission... in my opinion, anything PA is great! They are used by many a mustang at the track because they are virtually bulletproof, just follow there hp recommendations and you wont break it, and they have a great warranty. the only reason i went with a tci was the even better price, but i would have bought a PA if i had the money

I've had a PA 4R70W in my current ride for over 3 years. It's been driven hard, and the tranny has never misbehaved. Always delivers crisp up-shifts and down-shifts.

performance automatic has a good rep with the racers as well. they are a good company to deal with.

I have a 53101c on my shopping list for next year. I like the fact that the warranty is for life. If I gear to 4.11 and add an AOD, my car has a theoretical top end of 155 mph. Given my Mach's relatively poor aerodynamics, I am guessing that my real top speed would be 140 mph. I called and asked if the tranny could take sustained autobahn speeds of 140 for up to 30 mins straight. "No problem" was the answer, "and if it ever goes bad, we will repair or replace it for you." Ok. I am sold.

Will not be buying anything from them again. I just bought their pro-street c-4 with lifetime warranty and free freshen ups. I noticed it was an 1982 case which would be a c-5 case. Don't know if that would matter or not. The converter is tight on the flexplate, and yes the converter hub is bottoming inside the pump. Tried to explain the problem and they seemed like real a-holes. Wouldn't help for nothing. Kept telling me I didn't have the converter in. Called their converter place (tell you bout that in a bit) , they looked up my order and they said I had the wrong converter! So they (converter place) are sending me another as we speak. Man am I p.o.'d. Pa also charged me like $550 for a "custom" converter. Right! When the guy at the converter place told me the prices, I about hit the floor. They only charged me $325 dollars! (they are going to credit me for mine when they recieve it) I asked if there was any difference and they said the only difference was the new one I am getting is 1/4" shorter for a case filled tranny. These are off the shelf converters that they are almost doubling the price for!! To me that is total B.S. !! Another bad thing is if I call and make a big stink about anything they can tell me whatever they want if I have any warranty claims on the tranny or when I do the the free freshen up. So they have you over a barrel. :damnit: Advice: Have it built locally!!!!!!!!!!!!!
