hey all was just at my paint place asking about how much he is going to charge me for a piant job. i have to prep it and i got some very very minor body work to do. he telling be about 400.00( i know the guy), and hes painted a car for me before and i use to stock a soda machine in his shop couple years back. so i know the guy fairly well
anyways i was thinking i can pretty much have any color i want. But of course he recommends leaving it silver. which is not a problem cause silver looks good on stang IMO, but i really drean about a blue stang, like metallic or suburu blue. and then put some white 10 or 12" vinyl stripes on it! (i know but i cant afford a real striped job).

what do you guys recommend. changing the color would mean my door jams and egnien aby etc. would remain silver(well more like primer grey at this point so it would look cheezy, but not as bad as like a red car with a blue outside, green door jams and etc...................

i don't expect the paint job to last if i change the color, but he is a good painter and it will be stored in a garage soon....

Silver jambs on a blue car wont look right. Personally leave it silver, or like stated above, silver with blue up top?

may favorite factory paint scheme it two tone silver effects, and metallic blue top......i'll consider it but i prefer all one color overall. if it was factory tht color i would keep it! but my car was the original dark grey with light metallic bottoms and the bright blue stripe all around(wtf FORD) its looks ok but im not recreating it!

subu blue with cheezy door panels and engine bay, but i will cheese from 20ft away...

dark grey metallic, and the door jams will look off but not too bad....

also, the car was repainted by an idiot (previous owner told me) he wanted to redo the factory pain scheme and the guy sprayed the top half of the car with the light blue instead of just striping it, and sprayed the bottom silver....the guy i bought it off refused to pay for it, so the painter did a quick basic silver spray...........
so if you look at my fenders right were the hood seals you can see overspray of blue!!! and one day when the engine dies im going to pull it out and put in my nice 351w (lol well it needs assembled and then it will be nice), so later down the road i will do the right thing as far as paint, but thats future plans some hard times could come forcing me to sell or i could get the 5.0 curse and total it once its all nicely painted. so i mine as well like my outside color.....

still open to opinions*

man im just going to flip a coin im definately not going to paint it metalic silver to bright and boring IMO so its eiter a dark silver metalic or bright(sonic) metalic blue.........

and its around 400.00 so it could climb to the 6's or 7's but im not complaining..............so my grand total for new rims, tires and paint is under 2k........plus 1500 for the car, 600 in motor, 300 in rear,500 in t-5 swap. im looking at a smidgen over 5k including the car! not a bad price for a little respect amongst you guys and other mustang fans.....not to mention im pretty sure its going to be a great little NA 12 second ride....11 on some gas...lol

ps. sonic blue is teh SHIP

i think it would look better with the dark silver. The blue is awesome, but if you are unable to do the jambs, I would at least stick within the silver/gray family.

not bad at all man! considering that's not even half of what i have in my car and your car should easily keep up with mine and will look great doing it! as far as paint with my car, i'm sure you've seen i'm doing the black on black thing, but i've got a lil sum' sum' i throwing on that i think will look SICK!

sonic blue is a good looking color, but definitely have him do the jamb's too if you decide to do a color change, including the hatch. it shouldn't be more than $100-150 more. don't worry about the engine compartment, it's not a show car, you can tackle that later on down the road.

Stripes on a Fox (except for a very rare few) =

Some sort of dark metallic grey FTMFW. The '03-'04 Mach 1 grey was fantastic.

my only other liking is red, but i don't like red foxes. idk why??? but i just think red is the classic color..........

cenok what you got planned for it? im curious pm me if you want to keep it secret. i wont tell no one lol............
i have a secret/feeling if i do what i wanted with the paint i would have a really original fox that most on this site would like even ..........but funds are low...........

Im getting ready to pain my fox too. Im thinking Bright Atlantic Blue for mine.

I have to ask though is $400 for just the labor and then you need to buy the paint? DO NOT cheap out when it comes to materials, cheap paint = cheap quality. I've been talking to my buddy that is going to paint my car (he paints SEMA cars) and its going to be over $600 for the paint and clear alone.

THough the paint isn't fancy here is truck he did for SEMA in 01.
