I have a 95 Cobra with the horizontal bar style tail lights. They are starting to fade along the top of each bar and look like crap now. Are these things re-paintable? It seems to be nearly impossible to properly tape and prepare these for paint. The plastic lenses aren't in the best of shape either.

If a new set is in order can I:

A. Buy new reproduction horizontal bar lights in Rio Red?
B. Buy aftermarket tail lights that aren't rice looking

Just searching around I can only find these stupid looking clear chrome carbon fiber pieces. They look awful!

Has anybody seen something that even remotely resembles stock?

possible

I don't know about your 95's, but on my 98 there were 2 screws holding the painted benzel onto the clear lens. Just pop off the taillight and remove the painted piece. Painting would be a breeze after that.

94-95 bezels do not come apart like the 96-98's do. I taped up the lens on my friends 94-95 car. I painted and cleared them and they look great. All a.m. tails for Mustangs are rice unfortunately. IF you buy the new 94-95 lens from www.50resto.com...they come all red and you have to paint them anyways.

P.S. If you lenses are faded, polish them before you paint, because you could burn the edge of the painted area if you are not careful.

Go to homedepot and buy some thin painters tape. It makes it easier to tape off the lenses. And just either respray them red or go black.
