PAINT HELP!

87gt is stripped down to the origanal primer, windows, moldings all removed, getting ready for paint, First time painting need all the tips i can get. Whats the best grit to run the entire body over with before primer? What type of primer? i want a primer that is think so i can go over any light high and low spots with it, its reffered to as spray on bondo its so think? how do i prep the bumpers and ground effects? how many coats of base and what kind of paint?, how many coats of clear? any tips would be greatly apprecited. Jut

If its down to primer, wet sand the car with 600grit. you only want to smooth the car down to wear you dont feel any rough spots. I totally redid my 86 GT from the ground up and repainted it myself too. As far as primer I just used some PPG primer and for the bumpers I used flexible urethane primer. For coats I have 3 color coats with 2 coats of clear. For best results Wet sand each coat with 600grit sandpaper you'll get a great shine to it. I didnt wet sand my last coat of clear though! Heres a link for the post I just did. I did this car from the ground up!! keep that in mind and did all my body work and paint myself. And i'm only 20 years old and never took shop class or body class.
