The other night I was waxing my '03 GT when I noticed soemthing at the rear corner of the hood scope. After a closer look I noticed that the paint is coming off. A friend of mine has a '03 GT also and his paint started peeling at the front of his hood scoop. He didn't catch it right away and the paint peeled back about the size of a quarter. The dealer re-painted his hood under warranty. I wanted to know if there is a paint defect for '03 or if anyone else has had this problem? I am planning on taking the hood scoop off tonight and fix it with some touch up paint so it doesn't spread anymore. The chipped paint is still under the edge of the hood scoop and looks like it is peeling back toward the under side of the scoop. Has anyone taken the insulation off the under side of there hood? Has anyone taken their hood scoop off? Any comments on things I will need ar the best way to do it would be great. It might be time to buy a Mach 1 style hood if this is going to common problem.

If its still under warranty, take it to Ford. If its not under warranty, take it to Ford and demand they fix it. Ford is known to use the softest, chittiest paint known to man

Aint that the truth. I have, what seems to be brake dust shavings on my rear bumper. It looks like pinpoint rust spots. I called the dealership and they guy said they should come out with a good wax job. But they didn't. You think they would repaint? I am still under the 3/36

GLENN MII,
My car has only been handwashed since I have owned it new. It is not my everyday car. So it spends alot of time in the garage unless the weather is good. I only have 14,00 miles on it and I have owned it since June 2003.

I hate the idea of having my hood re-painted. That is why I was thinking about doing a touch up since it is under the scoop. I did not know there was a tsb on the paint. I would like a copy of the TSB also.

Thanks,

Why do you hate the idea of a repaint? Repaint > touchup paint. I had my hood repainted under warranty - paint was faking off in the front. Get Ford to do it right.

Jesus, I've got about 20 little chips of paint missing on my hood...the paint appears to be 1/100th of tissue paper thickness...buncha crap.
I am out of the 3/36, but I do have the extended warranty...hmmmm, maybe it's time to pay them a visit?
