Hey,
I've been following up on all you guys that are painting your interiors black and I decided that i'm going to experiment with the option myself. Which kind of Dupli-Color paint did you guys use? I have seen the Dupli-Color Flat Black and Gloss Black Interior and Vinyl paint and I have seen the Semi-gloss Dupli-Color acrylic enamel. I've been reading about Ryan218's job and I like his pictures the best. I want the closest to stock black as possible but I don't want the glossy Armor-All look. A possible picture of the can would be great. Thanks in advance.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo paint!

--repeated--

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo paint!

Find yourself a quality vinyl dye. The stuff I used is from VHT. I also bought a bunch of cans of vinyl prep to remove the factory color and prepare the surface. The problem with paint is that if you scratch it well.... it's scratched. The dye on the other hand, penetrates the surface and none but the worst kind of gouges will show through. Paint also has the tendancy to crack and flake up after a while (vinyl of course flexes and stretches with heat etc.). The dye is different. It's not a hard candy shell like paint is.

Take a look:

Oh, and use "Landau black". Gloss black is too shiny, flat black is too flat. Landau black is perfect, you can use cleaners on it to get a normal shine.

Most auto upholstery shops sell it.
