Yesterday I took the 95 to a bodyshop to qet an estimate to have er painted, they gave me an estimate of $7500 to do a color change. I like er but I don't like er that much to justify a $7500 paint job. I'm going to keep shopping around.

i found a guy on Craigslist to paint some stuff for me. Did a great job at a great price. Look around and ask to see some of theyre work

a color change, if done right, will be costly. they have to do all the jabs and make sure to prep all that. i feel that quote is a high but not too far out of the ballpark.

Yeah I was thinkin like $5k on the high side. Current color is that crap teal and the the paint is fading real bad on the roof now. I was wanting to go to like a viper blue or something similar

I was quoted $4,500-$5,000. What kind of paint job I get for that price depends on how much I take off the car before it gets there. He told me if I took off all the trim, interior, etc. and brought him basically a shell, that I would get what he deemed to be a $7,500-8,500 paint job for the same price.

there's not a whole lot of trim on the 95's really. Weather stripping and such but not much body molding

It's a convertible, so there's some... all weather proofing, emblems, and trim, headlights, taillights, interior, and some other minor stuff. It's totally worth it to me to spend a day or two taking that all apart to get double the paint job. I'm sure you could find a similar deal.

Is the "Viper" blue a tri-coat, because that will add to the cost; in addition to the removal of all the trim, moldings, handles(interior door panels to access), antenna & base, doors, hood, decklid..to paint the jambs..., prep work/sanding, paint, clear etc..not too mention the labor rate...

A lot of the Ford colors are tri-coat. I know Rio Red is on my car. I tried to buy the paint myself and it was still over $1,500.

That's a fair price in this area. We have two kinds of shops:

$2000 repaint, $3000 color change - 10 foot job
$8000 repaint, $12000 color change - show car worthy

Gotta pay to play. In your situation, I'd probably just respray the teal.
Even if you don't like the color, it will look a billion times better being fresh and shiny and may grown on you.
I did this with my 94GT daily driver with bolt ons (that forest green color) and was very happy per dollar spent.
