John, I didn't use any stripper on mine for fear of damage or the off chance of some. you are going to have to strip all the paint off and start over like I did. I'm doing a resto project right now and had some spider cracks/ peeling on the ground effects and rear bumpers. I used 120 grit with a DA on low speed to get alot of the top layer off and then finished by hand. don't use anything too course or it will soften the edges and lines that mimic the door mouldings. Just take your time becuase it's a huge pia ( gotta love those embossed letters

It can be done w/o stripper, it's time consuming but I didn't mind. The prep is going to give the final result, get rid of the old paint.
