Hi guys,
I'm currently sitting here at work, trying to convince myself that I'm not actually at work on Good Friday
nonono: ), and I wanted to see if I could get some opinions on the paint scheme I was thinking of for my 1968 coupe.
At first, I wanted to do 1 solid color plus striping of some sort... however after a lot of thinking about it, the turn-signal hood I have won't allow for anything else to look good besides stock stripes. I don't like the look of those by themselves.
Then I saw a picture of a two-tone scheme that I liked... sort of like this:
However, I think I would keep the base color (yellow in that picture) off of the roof altogether.
This is the color I want to use as my base... it is a very deep metallic red that POPS when the light hits it correctly:
So... I would use that red as my base color, and use either a matte or gloss black as the color for the "top" of my car.
That's not it, though. That idea has been done and I want to get creative (while still understated).
What I was thinking was that after the two-tone scheme is done, I could go back and add a pinstripe outline of the stock stripes. So I would have the outline, in red, of the stock stripes on the black part of the two-tone scheme. I'm not sure if anyone has seen something like this done before, but I'm just looking for your opinions. What do you think? Will it look good? Let me hear your feedback!
Here is a pic of what the stock stripes look like:
