Engine Paint where the exhaust or Headers mount

If there is some engine paint where the headers mount, should I remove the paint before installing the headers??
Can't remember if its a bad thing to leave it or not???

Scrape the paint off the sealing surfaces

Next time, tape off the sealing surfaces before painting. It should burn off of the inside of the exhaust port, but I hope you did not get a bunch of paint on the valve stems.

Puhleeze, thanks for the vote of confidence.... LOL.. Not sure why I painted on the exhaust gasket surfaces... Might have been to prevent any rust knowing this engine was going to sit for a while..... I filled the holes with paper and left the old spark plugs in when they were painted....
Yes, some follow up reading said that NO gasket surfaces should have any paint on them........
