Anyone have experience with stripping paint and then polishing aluminum wheels??? The previous owner painted them (more like botched) black.

Is there a way to get a high polished shine? I really like the cobra wheels, but would love to have them polished aluminum.

BTW, here's what I'm working with.

Steel wool very fine 000 and some mothers alumium wheel polish will do it if your patient I am sure you could buff them with some sort of polishing kit. I had to buff the lip on my bullit rims and they came out good.

You can with a lot of elbow grease. Be careful of power polishers as you may remove a little more material than intended. Once done you will be doomed to polish them regularly as they will turn chalky white with oxidization in fairly short order. Clear coat paint will not stick to a polished surface so you would have to clear powder coat them. Another option is to clean them off and repaint them correctly in your choice of colors. This will be the easiest maintenance route and can still look good.
Let us see them when you are done!
