I've never taken them out but they look to me like they are some sort of acrylic that is yellow throughout...you might not be able to take it off. Thats just how they look to me though, I could be wrong.

I did, then I removed the paint... Remember, the needles light up at night...if you paint them, they will NOT.

Here's the thread from Corral where they talk about IT, with the glow gauges.

Update I took an extra set apart and took the pain off of the bottom (i emphisize that the pain is only on the bottom). Now I just have to figure if I paint them blue if they will show up worth a danm at night...I will try and post a pic of them later.

Well if you have el gauges it doesn't matter if the needle doesn't light up it would be the dark spot on the gauge. Maybe if I just blacked them out it would look cool.

I painted mine. looks cool during the day, sucks at night. I used model paint and a steady hand. if I drove at night more I'd take the paint off...
good luck

Something notable to try. I know some people use glass paint, or some kind of specfic clear plastic paint when light needs to show thru in similar situations.

No...I slipped a piece of paper underneath. I also have a set of VERY FINE brushes for when I painted the interior pieces.

Well If you still want it to light up you need to remove the paint from the bottom probably and that means removing the speedo. If you just put clear lets say clear red on top of the orange wont it be a clear red/orange mixture?
