So I just bought a CAI off eBay for like $30, I saved about $15 because it's an ugly green color.........................................So this means it's getting painted black, I want to do a good job so it will look show worthy.

So my question is what's a good metal paint that's not real exspensive??? I figure a good primer and paint job and it should hold up just fine in my engine bay.

Sand it really good and use some engine enamel.

If you want a nice finish with a great gloss coat right out of the can I have always had great luck with "PAINTERS TOUCH" I think its made by Rust-Oleum. For such a great finish it dries pretty quick to. You can get it at wal mart, home depot, or lowes to name a few. I'm telling you straight up, its an AWESOME finish, I can't image it with clear coat. Just sand the CAI down good and your in business.

I think I'll try that some of that "PAINTERS TOUCH" when the intake comes in, I'll just sand it down good and make sure I put some good clearcoat on it.

I'd like to powdercoat but I don't want to spend that much money. lol

Powdercoating it would cost what he paid to get it, or more. I used Duplicolor stuff on mine. Made by DuPont. Sand the thing down to metal with 180 grit sandpaper. Prime it with the etching primer. (Ugly green color! LOL!) Let that "dry". Paint it with your chosen color. I used a semi-gloss black on mine because it matches the other stuff under the hood. If you want a high gloss, use the gloss paint and then wet sand it with finer and finer sandpaper till you get a nice haze, then polish with a car buffer. If done properly, it will be close to the finish/durability of powdercoating. (Nothing REALLY comes close, though.)
