painting CAI

ok when I bought my 99 cobra used it had a bbk cai on it. well the chrome is flaking off and its rusted in a few places. What can I do to clean it up, I was thinking about painting it and wondered if anyone else has done this.

You could get it powder coated, and it will last longer, and also keep cooler!

I would like to do that but I am just looking for a cheap fix at the moment until I can buy a new cai, not a bbk chrome peice either, or any other metal one that is not at least ceramic coated.

How about wrapping it with header wrap?

Sand it down with some relatively light grit sandpaper, but totally sand out the rust spots. Then get some hightemp paint. It should stick to the intake just fine.
