im gonna be buying some BBK chrome headers and i was thinking about hiting them with a few coats of ceramic high temp silver paint before i install them so they dont rust... what im worried about is the chrome flaking up and causing the paint to come off.

do you think itll be fine?

The chrome doesn't usually flake off. Well, after a while it does, but for the most part after 900* it just turns blue. I think you should be just fine. You could always wrap them later if they don't turn out right.

I think you should be fine though. Just don't try to get too creative with the clear coat and all... Post the results too please.

i've never had a set of my chrome headers even come close to chipping/peeling. they just go blueish and yellowish.

There's a company called Jet Hot which will ceramic coat your headers.

jet-hot would be the best if you can shell out the $$

as far as the ceramic silver...we were talkin about that in the "cleaning the underbody" thread, that paint is rated to 1200 degrees, im pretty sure the headers will get over that...I might be wrong. I used that paint on my BBK O/R H, and it has held up for 3 months of driving so far. I just don't know if it would hold up on headers
