maybe someone can help me out. what is the best type of paint to use if i want to accent the interior or my Mustang, i.e. paint the speaker covers, vents, stuff like that? do i have to sand down the plastic to get paint to stick to it first? a step by step would be awesome, but any help would be appreciated. thanks.

I would do one of the following:

A) Use the search function .

B) Buy the paint from 50resto.com.

Good luck,

Are you goint to paint it? If so. I would use a air generator set to 40 lbs of pressure and air brush(hobby lobby on sale for $70). That is what I used to paint some interior on mine. I used the same paint as the exterior. 96 viper sherman williams automotive paint products. Look at the pictures and you see what I painted.

I took the parts off. Cleaned them with soap and water clean good. I did not sand so it keep the look of the stock parts. I did not use primer. A platic primer would help some if the car is going to be in the heat alot. Mine is not in the sun much(very part time driver). If you use a primer, mix primer and spray about 1 to 2 coats in about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Just make sure it is covered. I mixed my paint and sprayed about 2 coats in about 30 mintues to 1 hour. Cleaned the air brush and mixed the clear and gave it about 2 coats also. Then let parts dry for 1 day. After that day, you need to be careful putting the part on. The clear is dry but very soft. It takes about 3 to 6 months for the chemicals to dry. No SILICON wax. No Armor All. It will work if you CLEAN. Your hands needs to be clean. No oil any where near your work area.

So if you have the tools you can do it this way.

Duplicolor Vinyl Dye. I did my doors, rear quarter panels, and all the trim pieces. Cleaned with soap/water, then alcohol. Works like a charm!

get some Kylon Fusion paint. made to paint plastic stuff. clean off the peice with alcohol or 3M cleaner(my fav.). wipe it down with water to get the residue off. then put on a couple coats and there u go. easiest way i can think off.

so is there an easy way to do things to the outside of the car too? i know...i should use the search function, but i don't have the time right this minute. i am sort of an artist, though, and i would love to put some art on the side of my Mustang. i have a feeling that is a longer process, though. anyone know any shortcuts?

btw.....thanks for all the posts, guys. i appreciate the help. once i get warm weather here for more than a day, i will get me some Duplicolor or 50resto or something and do it up. i will be sure to post pics. thanks again.

When it comes to paint and art on your car, I would recommend not taking any shortcuts. The more time and patience you show, the nicer the results.
