Is it a good idea to scuff my lock cylinders and spray the ring with some sem trim black paint? Will it hold up?

I did exactly that and yes, it did hold up and continues to do so and looks great.
However, I do not use my keys. My doors are always open and for the hatch I use the glove box button. Therefore if you use your key then expect the inner area to chip slightly which will require occasional touch up. For that use an artist brush dipped in the SEM trim black or a black sharpie actually blends In nice.
