Should I paint the side mirrors and door handles the same as the exteriour of the car?? or Paint them the same as the window trim!? They're both gunna be black, but the window trim will be a bit different, since im using spray paint on it.

I redid mirrors on mine with "flexible" black plastic exterior paint (find it at any auto store - I got mine at Advance Auto Parts).

I did a primer coat, sanded it to smooth out any grooves from road debris. Then did multiple coats of the black paint - looks brand new and has held up for a yr with not a single complaint.

Just make sure you have plenty of painter's tape (blue tape - masking tape would probably work just as well) and newspaper...and cover more area than you think you should because a slight breeze can make a mess on your car in no time.

As far as exterior color vs. black...just go the black way...matching exterior can be hard (although I did a near flawless job on my side door trim (had faded and cracked from body color to the yellowish plastic/rubber) with Ford matched spray paint also bought at auto store).

Good luck!

Why not just take the mirrors off to paint it? I'm sure it's harder to pull the door handles off than the mirrors but, why not just take em all off n paint em off tha car to be safe? As you said a slight breeze can make a mess on your car in no time, why not do it the right way instead of the easy way?

As far as taking the mirrors/handles off... its not gunna be that big of a deal... all I have to do is make sure the glass is all covered... since Im painting the entire car anyway, if theres some overspray on the fenders/door or whatever, it really doesnt make a difference. I was just curious to what colour I should make them.

Well, what may be the "right way" for you wasn't for me at the time. I was painting a lot of other areas (side molding, rear letters) at the same time and since I was going to have to tape off other areas, doing it for the mirrors made sense and worked just fine. So for me, it was both the right way and easy way.

In that case I see where you're comming from, I just meant if that's all you were doing it seemed best to take em off, ya kno?

i just painted the door handles, and key lock. i have a remote to unlock the door, so thats why i painted the lock.

I got new mirrors from 50resto..as far as door panels, I ripped them out and tore the pockets off and painted them black to match my car, i also painted the elbow rests black, and ordered new ones and got my interior paint from 50 resto..If you dont want to go to this extent, many body shops and upholstery shops will make your mirrors and door panels just how you want them for a little cash..good luck
