I saw a stock strut tower brace for sale and it was painted red. I thought i could do this to match my red wires and a few other stuff. How should i do this? sand off all the black junk till i get to the bare metal and then paint? any tips welcome, and could you maybe post some pics if you have done this before. thanks

I have a sotck STB, and the paint it very thick, and very hard. I had a friend sand blast it, and it did nothing to the paint except make it dull.... I just chipped off the paint where it was peeling, and sanded out rust bubbles, I'll be painting it when we get the right weather over here....

Buy some paint remover. Comes in a spray can and found at any auto parts store. Spray it on and should remove most of the paint. Sand with like 400 grit on other areas where it didn't penetrate. Once down to the bare metal then prime it. Spray with high temp of whatever color you want. Finish it off with a clear coat.
