I've had the euroclear 96-98 tailights with the black bezel on my car for awhile now but the plastic bezel has started to fade and now I want to paint it for that nice clearcoat look. Not sure if I should just primer it, then paint and clearcoat it since it is plastic or should I sand it down first. Any help on getting them to look the best and last long will be appreciated.

Best would be to sand with 400, primer, sand with 400 again, spray on the base coat then clear coat.

If your going with the Krylon Fusion paint, you can just paint right over them.

I have heard mix results with doing that. It only takes a few minutes to spray a primer down first, so I would recommend that.

But definately sand it down well. Also, the easiest way to mask of the bezel is to put a too much tape over the taillights (cover part of the bezel all the way around), and just use a razor blade to cut the excess away. Then you are left with a perfectly masked taillights in no time at all. Trust me, from experience.

He said they are 96-98 lights so the lenses will pop out. I did my tail lights with the krylon fusion after sanding it with 400 to make them smooth and i didnt have any problems... RC did the same thing and his turned out great

i sanded mine down with 400. washed'em. taped'em. painted them with Krylon Fusion Satin Black, 2 coats. turned out real nice. cost me less than $4.00. i love working at a hardware store, yeah discount.

Well I just finished putting the clearcoat on them and they look good. Since it's plastic, I just painted over them. I thought a good sand and primer job only needed to be done on bare metal?? What are your thoughts on this. A few months ago I painted my two little hood scoops with the dupont mystic color and they came out great!!! It gets alot of compliments from people when they see the color change!!
