Painting the intake

Is there a way you can paint the intake manifold. I got some laser red in a can. I dont think its hi temp, but will it work?

I wouldn't use it if it's not high temp paint. I painted my upper with the high temp black and then my intake plaque I painted with high temp black then filled in with yellow model paint, I like how it turned out

Are you referring to car paint when you say in a can?

If it's not high temp I don't think it's going to last long. A good quality high temp paint should hold up though.

Regular car paint, even single stage centari will last just fine on an intake. I know this from experience because I have used the same paint on my intake that was used on the car. Just make sure you prep it good.

Seriously, anyone who doesnt' think car paint is high temp needs to have their head examined! The sun beats down on it ALL THE TIME! Not to mention, your engine bay is painted with it and that paint sometimes outlasts the rest of the paint!

I've seen many people paint engine blocks, brackets and other parts with car paint with excellent results!

I used a laquer based spray paint on my upper intake and it still looks like it did the day I sprayed it. I have put 10,000 mile on it since.

haha yeah totally got excited and forgot to post one (and its my CAI)
and i did not powder-coat.. i just sand blasted it and had painter paint it for me at work

i think it turned out pretty good... what do you all think

yeah perhaps but this was free and ind it should last its the good stuff for cars in general lol

Probably won't look bad. I've never had anything but powdercoat under my hood, so my only question would be the finish and shine. Let me know how it goes though, I would like to see pics of the finished product
