I have a 98 GT with a Clifford Alarm system that was installed 4 years ago. In the last few days the horn starts going off in panic mode at random. I hit the alarm deactivate button and it turns it off. I reactivate the alarm and a 30 seconds later, the panic horn goes off again.

Any ideas? Any way I can just turn off the factory panic system? I don't use it anyway.

Somethings screwy in that Clifford alarm.. the factory antitheft isnt active, its completely passive. You can bust the window out and jam screwdrivers in the locks and it wont go off. All it does is refuse to start without the PATS (passive anti theft system) key with the transponder on it.

My grandmothers 95 maxima is a different story. The key doesnt fit quite right and if you even jiggle it too much trying to get it in to turn the door lock, the car will freak out and panic.

Transponder key and antitheft alarm are 2 seperate deals. Alarm if activated will blow the horn and lights when the door is opend without a key or sometimes without a remote being used to turn it off.
