My 87GT (surprising, I know) has been parked in an outdoor garage for about five years. Maybe 2 years ago was the last time I tried starting it; today I tried again. After some help from a battery booster, she turned right over, revved up to about 2k rpms, then stalled about 2-3 seconds later. This is the same thing that happened two years ago when I tried to start her.

I also seem to recall the car idling very high (1500-2300?) right before it was parked and/or during the garage time.

Being that I've been out of the Mustang game for so long, I really have no idea where to start troubleshooting. I just know I want to get this fixed - I can't hand the car off to get a new tranny until I figure this out!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I apologize for not utilizing the Search thoroughly this time - I've been going about 18 hrs/day at work this week :(

Sheet really, simple as that? I'm definitely using old gas (five years old, to be exact), though it did have StaBil in it. I'll have to figure out how to use my siphon again...and figure out where to dump half a tank of gas...

I had mine stored for two years and just brought it back out. Did the exact same thing. After I replaced the fuel filter, never did it again.

Dunno if that could actually be the problem or not but it seemed to work for me.
