I installed an 8.8 out of a 1995 Explorer in my 78 Mustang II. I’m finally getting around to getting the parking brake to work. I ordered the 1995 Explorer cable so the brake end would match up properly. But now I’m trying to figure out how to connect to the original Mustang II brake handle. I still have the original M II brake cable. But don’t have the bracket that went from the handle end to the cable. And quite honestly, can’t remember what it looked like. Was it the typical 1/4 round lip looking bracket that hooks into the cable with the part round lip and then a hole on the other end that the handle end snaked through? If someone has a picture of this piece, that would help me come up with an idea for fabricating my own piece to connect the MII handle to the Explorer cables.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Sorry, missed your post yesterday. It's been a long while since I was under my car dealing with the E-brake. but if memory serves it's a 2 (or maybe 3?) piece design. There's the cable that attaches at the handle that runs back to a U shaped bracket that contains the cable(s) that run to the drums. Does this sound right?

As for the handle end, I know there's an adjustment at the handle but I don't recall if it's a bracket or if the end of the cable has a threaded rod attached.

Sorry, I'm not much help, am I?

That helps tremendously. I am missing that horseshoe looking piece.

Using your picture, I’ll fabricate something the hooks to the brake handle and then to a mid section cable that will eventually couple to the rear Explorer cable pieces. The Explorers brake cable system is three pieces. Ours is one piece cable and the horseshoe piece. I already received the Explorer rear cable sections that mate up to the disc brakes.

I’m sure I can build something to work using your picture as a guide.

Thank you so much.
