Passing emissions with big horsepower?

as long as the engine is running correctly and has all the smog stuff on there it should pass. obviously if your dumping tons of fuel in there to keep it running its not going to pass.

but realistically here, if your running "big horsepower" would it really need inspection? you'd probably have another daily driver and drive the stang less. most states have exemption stickers for cars driven under a certain amount of miles each year. this is what i do. keep the stang under 5k/year, drive the buick 95% of the time.

It is much easier to pass with big power from forced inuction, and many of the blowers out there are EPA legal. Big N/A power usually requires long duration cams with lots of overlap and these are awful for emissions. I would not remove any emissions parts, but for those of you who do remove them be sure to save them. Just because your area exempts you now or does not test now does not mean it will stay like that. We have the tailpipe/roller test here and it took lots of us by surprise when it started up.

I have a 331 with AFR heads NO smog stuff OR cats and I passed the tailpipe test only sniffer here in california it's good to know the right people.
