Will a pats transceiver from 96 mustang work in a 98 mustang

From what I've seen, no, but from what I've read, maybe... Supposedly there was a change in the middle of the 98 model, and an early 98 still has the Gen 1 PATs system (which the 96 would have). I know the later 98s have Gen 2 (my late 98 does). So, in theory, an early one might work. That said, my brother did a 97 GT swap in a 98 V6 and had issue with PATS. I'm not sure of the build date on his.

If it were me, I'd either find a 96-97 part, or disable the PATs system.

From what I understand, it's possible to do with a tuner. I've also seen devices to bypass it, but I can't say for sure , I've never tried.
