PCV poped out

mine used to pop out... it would cause stalling and stuff, rough idle... its pretty much a vac. leak

i think that it means you might have some blow-by.... a valve cover breather really helps so it wont pop out

your sig gives me a headache urban96.i think someone on here said if you run a breather that it could cause a lean condition cuz you are allowing unmetered air in that the computer does not know is there.i had a problem with it poping out,i went to the local dealership and bought new pcv and grommet and my problem went away.do not buy them for autozone, advanced or another place.i tried that and they didnt work the only one that did was one from ford

i dont know about the comment made about running a breather causing a lean condition..... i could POSSIBLY see a rich condition IF any change at all in the A/F ratio caused by piston ring blow-by and running a breather...

any air sucked into the motor through the breather would most likey stay in the crankcase.... cause with a breather it wouldn't be under any pressure hence not being forced up into the combustion chambers.... HOWEVER when the air and fuel ignite in your combustion chamber it has nowhere to go but down and because it IS under pressure, it could be forced out around your piston rings....
i dont think it is possible for unmetered air to come up into the cylinder especially if the crankcase isnt under pressure

i dont think it was pushed out by blowby, maybe tho:shrug:

it is one of the cheap autozone ones :( i think it came out because of the air/oil seperator i have on it and the line was pulled kinda tight so maybe the combination of cheap part and pulled hose caused it to come out

i changed hose routing now tho so its not pulling, maybe ill pick up a new ford PCV

Good call with the Ford PCV (it fits tighter than some aftermarket stuff). Ditto for the grommet and screen (the screen is clean, right?).

Forced induction guys sometimes end up Siliconing the PCV valve in (not something I would run out and do). Make sure the element in the separator didnt clog up (mine was pretty hard to blow through after not too many miles with dino oil).

Where guys start running into breather issues is when they have a stock (lean) tune, and run PCV and a breather (one or the other works, but a mix isnt great).

But if your grommet is older, me thinks a fresh one could fix the issue alone. They vulcanize badly.

Good luck Urban, and thanks for getting rid of the psychodelic thing in your sig. It was giving folks flashbacks. :D

haha thanks, i couldnt stand the sig any longer myself.

i also cut out the filter in the seperator just incase the synth killed it

could any of this cause a bad idle? sorry to hijack

Yep. The vac leak alone can play with the stoichiometry, as well as cause the idle to either be high or low (generally high, but not always).

Good luck.
