i have a 2000 gt with an 03 engine,a few months ago it developed a pecking noise that sounded like it was coming from either the front of the engine or under cam covers.i took the covers off and checked everything, and put it back together, changed the oil and it helped a lil bit..well i later got aggravated with it and drove it down the road like i stole it! the noise went away...for a couple months anyway. well i have changed the followers, lash adjusters, chain guides, chain tensioners..it still has the same damn noise! it runs fine with no problems other than this loud pecking noise.of course it goes faster when the rpms go up and it never stops..again it sounds like its coming from the front of the motor like behind the timing chain cover....but i can not figure out what it is! any ideas??? thank you in advance!

You gonna have to post the sound for you to helped correctly, at a wild guess could be Piston to Valve contact, you might wanna do a Compression test to verify that you don't have a valve stuck open.

Still, sounds as you are gonna have to tear the motor apart, especially if you have replaced all of the aforementioned and no change in sound. The sound alone is enough reason to tear that motor apart, very unbearable in my opinion.

Can you rebuild a car's engine?

Those are still guesses until they tear apart the engine, which is why its good YOU can rebuild the car's engine. And a semi-hypothesis is all your gonna get until you tear apart the car's engine.

It's not very ofter someone describes their noise as pecking, and from that video it sounds a lot worst than a minor peck LOL.
