Is there anyway to tell if you car has a performance chip in it or if the computer has been tuned? Where would the chip be plugged in? Not sure if the guy i bought the car from had installed one and if it is messing with my mods. what chip would compliment my modifications? can i buy an existing one or should i have one personalized for my mods? thanks

The chip would be in your computer which is located in the passenger side kickpanel. Take the door sill plate off, then remove the kickpanel, just a few plugs that hold it on and a screw at the top of the A-pillar peice. Then you will see a mess of wires that go to the connector that is connected to your computer. Unscrew the two bolts you see at the bottom of the computer and it will unplug the harness then you can slide the computer out and open the 4 screws to see if there is a chip in their. You may not even need to open the box as most chips will stick out the top of the box through the opening.

Disconnect your battery before you pull the computer. If there is a chip, it will be plugged into the J3 service port on the end of the computer opposite the wiring harness. Your best bet chip wise is to have one set up for your specific modifications, on a dyno if at all possible.
