I don't know a whole lot about the various after market ignition options

For a NA combo, many have found the OEM stuff to be quite adequate

If you are looking for more than a very slight performance gain ......
Look in a category other than ignition ... no matter what the adds promise

My plugs look perfect; better throttle response, more bottom end torque. And no pinging.
On a open track day before the kit I could get to 128 MPH at the end of the straightaway before having to let off for turn 1.
Last time I went was after installing the Fire Power Kit and I did 135 MPH on the same track.
I guess what I’m saying is it was money well spent.

Ive seen that kit advertised before it seems to be a pretty good kit. Ive got an MSD 6AL box, MSD coil and Taylor wires and that seems to work pretty good for me.

Not looking for too much gain. My cap and rotor are almost 3 yrs old , the coil is stock (150K miles) and I'm pretty sure the wires are still stock so I figured I'd upgrade it all at once. No one had anything bad to say about it so I might go for it. I'll update friday when I decide.

I run the PD kit to..No complaints. I used an MSD dizzy...I think they just came out with that dizzy as its a Ford unit just beefed up bearing wise and such...Few years back they didn't have it or I would have got one....They had another type for like 100.00 over a 300.00 MSD....

I've always stuck with MSD for coils/rotors/caps, and Taylor for wires. Always been able to squeeze a little more gap out my plugs that way and be completely reliable. With the MSD Blaster Coil, MSD Cap and rotor, and Taylor wires, I run the plugs just around 0.060 just like that PD set says you can, and its considerably cheaper.

i just replaced my msd billet distr after 1 year biggest waste of $$$ i ever spent on my moneypit, got it after my stocker went bad.

i did the whole deal, computer distributor, livewires, coil, dyna mod. i can't say how well it works yet, because i have another issue keeping me down right now.

I have heard the same thing from others Bimmertech. That's why I went livewires too for my 408. I have had it on the 306 and had no issues. It pulled better throughout the RPM band.

Its not so much about the amount of power

It is about the application

Lets keep it simple and look at two different applications

Power Adder Folk have spark blow out issues to deal with that typical
NA h/c/i combos don't

As with most upgrades .....
Some are more worth while than others

Performance ignitions on NA combos don't usually give much gain
simply because ... the stocker is not all that inefficient

Lets use the hp values of 350 and 400 and see how they compare to .......
A typical h/c/i combo you see on our site all the time

Many 275-325 rwhp combos have used the OEM ignition with success

If we move up to a Windsor and build a similar 1 rwhp to 1 ci combo ...
That would put us in that 350 to 400 rwhp range

I don't see how the OEM stuff is gonna be working any differently
in an application such as that

I say ... don't spend money where it does little good

I say ... do spend the money on better quality parts where it can
make a real difference ... like heads, or cam, or meter, or LT's, etc
