Hi,
I've got some quick questionsabout where to begin with my stang.
First off she's a 1995 Convertible 5.0 AODE with aproximately 110,000 miles she runs great though. She's got new shoes, Nitto 555 and a Fenderwell intake. Alright so where to begin I know alot of you have gone down this path so hopefully you can shed some insight.

I'm curious what mods you suggest starting out with bear in mind I have about 750-1250 a month to play around with for the car. I want to build a solid NA base before going forced which is a wase down the road. This is a daily driver so I don't want to loose too much low end, but eventually I would like to pilot her to being a pretty mean street machine (haha). What have you guys done, and what would you suggest starting with.

Thanks Alot

Matt

Matt, since you are starting from scratch, do it right the first time. Add more cubes to your car by either stroking it out to a 347 or making the move to a 351 right off the bat. If you want torque this is the easiest and best way to do it NA. I wish I would have gone this route at times...

I would suggest full length sub frame connectors to help eliminate chassis flex. Being a convertible the chassis flexes while under a load aka launch, stiffing the chassis WILL help you plant those tires for that get up and go straight deal. A good exhaust system (long tubes/mid pipe/catback) will help free up hp/tq. Good luck.

I don't know a lot about using an auto trans for a street car so I'll just mention this and the guys who have more auto trans knowledge than me can pick up on this and run with it.

I know that the auto trans sucks up a good bit of the hp & tp the motor puts out before it can get to the wheels.

I would think a converter should be on your short list as it will have to help with the tq loss.

373's or 410's would be the first thing I would do.

LT's will give more low & mid range tq than shorty's btw.

A custom cam can be quite helpful with boosting tq as well.

And like Paul told you, more cubes will really boost the low end.

One of the main goals for my car was a strong low & mid range tq curve. It really is a lot of fun on a street car so I do agree with your thoughts on this subject.

I wish I had that monthly budget...

Hmmm....

Month 1: gears, subframe conn, exhaust
Month 2: convertor, shift kit
month 3-6: build 347 or 351 like killer was saying
month 7: tires
month 8 tires
month 9 tires...

:-)

and some suspension in there too. But I really would get the entire car solid around the motor then wait and build the motor you want!!!
