Phenolic spacer came uninstalled with car so while I had the intake off to strip and paint I installed it. Kept getting EGR codes and couldn’t figure it out. Well off came the intake again to replace valve seals and I noticed there was no hole in spacer. Could this be the EGR code issue?

That would trigger a code for sure. Pretty sure the ECU would detect no EGR flow based on o2 sensor response

I think they're a little easier to get off

You could drill a hole in the spacer if you like. Honestly that spacer is really unnecessary on a stock intake, unless it’s absolutely needed for valve cover clearance or something. The factory runners are plenty long already.

I will drill the hole because I’m pretty sure the original intake bolts bolts are a part of another project now

Pretty easy process and I put dabs of sealant on the top and bottom gaskets to hold them in place because when I removed the intake the bottom gasket had shifted out it apparently was still working. Now I’m fighting stuck valve stem keepers
