I was told that I should get a PI head and intake on my 96 Gt and it would give me about 60hp. Sorry for the newbie question but whta is PI Head and intake, and about how much would this run me? I live in florida and where could i get this.

PI heads are called "performance improved" heads. They are from a 99+ Mustang GT and the PI swap you hear about includes, the heads, the intake manifold, and the cams. All of which come from a 99+ Mustang. 2002 I believe is the year with the aluminum crossover for the intake manifold so it wont crack and leak coolant all over like every other year. Might want to check into that. The cams, so seperately usually cost you about 100 bucks, the heads are around 300 and the intake manifold costs about 150. Alot of people will sell a PI swap for about 500-600 bucks. Good luck with everything!

You can get PI parts off of ebay, but I wouldn't trust a lot of sellers unless they've got good feedback.
www.livernoismotorsports.com sells a PI kit for about 1200 I think. That's the average price when you're buying everything new. I'm sure some other people can think of other sites selling the kit.

if you have any plans for a blower don't swap the heads. just the intake and cams.
Why not? Even under boost, surely there is a noticeable increase in power from the improved flow of a set of p/p PI heads over stock 96-98 heads... ? Unless your reason is the increased compression-> which in the case of a blower you'd want to replace the internals anyways and might as well put in some 15cc pistons...

The PI swap raises the compression of the engine, I think to 10:1 so it's not safe to supercharge. Running nitrous is a viable option :D

correct. your tune would have to be perfect to make it safe. and you're not really gaining all that much with the PI heads. get the NPIs ported and you will be fine.
