Hey folks,

UPS brought me one of my goodies today and I have a few Q's.

1) Do I need new bolts, or can I use the old ones?

2) Is this the only/best place to put the second sensor?

I ordered the adapter plates from Livernoismotorsports and they should be here by Friday, so I'll be installing the Intake and X pipe this weekend. I CAN'T WAIT to see how she pulls. I have heard nothing but good things about the swap, so I'm as excited as a 10 year old the night before christmas

Blev:

The Livernois kit comes with new bolts so it makes sense that the bolts must be replaced. The new intake is taller and the adapter plates will add a little more height so new bolts make sense.

The 'second sensor' hole, imho, should be exactly where you show it. You could, as an option, drill and tap the thermostat cap.

Blev:

Did you see in 5.0 (June) that the intake is milled about 0.3" so that the total installed height of the manifold and plates still clears the hood? Maybe a quick call to Livernois is in order (to make sure a "non-Livernois" manifold will still fit under the stock hood)?

Thanks for the tid bits bro. I don't have the stock hood, so I'm not concerned about clearance. I'm wondering if I should have the hole tapped "profesionaly" though. I know it's fairly important to have the sensor fit in properly, but can this be done at home with a regular drill? I'm pretty sure I have the right size tap for it. I'll be getting everything prepared this week sometime so I'm curious as to how difficult this is. Thanks again for the info

I would think that to get a good and straight thread, a drill press should be used. Maybe I'm a little cautious about this, but if you don't have access to one, then a machine shop can knock that out real quick and cheaply.

tapping only takes about 5 minutes tops. I did mine o n the thermostat housing and it works great. It takes I believe a 9/16 drill bit and a 3/8 NPT tap and you are done

Drilled and tapped the hole myself. It's not that hard actualy. It's a good idea to have a second person their to make sure you are totally vert when drilling, also to hold the intake. Forgot about this thread and saw that nyuk recomended new bolts. Anyone know the size and the thread so I can buy them in advance. Ford is out of stock and they are on back order. Not to mention they would still be too short.
