I have a 96 gt and I am woundering will a PI intake be a good upgrade. If so I think there are some adaptor plates that are needed. Where can I get some? and how much power should this give me? Thanks!

no adapter plates needed, just gaskets.

Most popular swap available Jacob

You'll need to use a little RTV for the intake swap to work, which isn't too big of a deal. The pi cams pop right in and help out aswell

You'll pick up 30-35 horsepower by doing that swap and it can be done for CHEAP. There is a member on here that is selling NEW pi cams for $75 I believe, and you can pick the pi intakes with the alum crossover for $100 on most classifieds. I sold the PI intake with alum to HoustonGT from this board for $75 so just look around.

Good power for cheap---something you don't hear much with these 4.6s

How much trouble is it to change the cams and intake in one of these things??? Ive just not had an experiance working on the 4.6.. But i just rebuilt a supercoupe engine and if i can do that i can probably do anything! that was the biggest PITA of all things mechanical ever done in my lifetime and i've rebuilt probably a dozen engines even a toyota once.. It literaly took 2 days to unhook everything and pull the engine and thats with air tools indoors with good lighting.. Took another 3 hours just to strip it down to take to the machine shop..... More crap came out from under the hood than would fit in the back of a pickup truck hehe.. So really how bad is it to do the swap?? You are saying that PI cams and Intake WITHOUT the heads will pickup 30hp or so right?

yeah, 30hp is a good estimate to gain over what you have now. Really swapping the Pi intake isn't that hard, and some reading will point you in the direction of how to install PI cam ez.

wont "solve" it. But it will sure help, these cams and intake are for better flow and that peaks at high rpm's. Our stock peak hp is at 4400 while PI stangs are at 5250. Im going PI swap + VT cams so it will be more like 5400 I better learn to love revs

I did my intake in a day. Cams can be done in a day but take your time. I did mine in two. Do a search in Tech on intake swap and cam swap. Lot's of good info here and on some other sites.

Is it best to do both at once or does it really make one easier than the other to do at the same time? ie: having the intake off when you do the cams?

You can find some off of other 4.6s, but make sure they are PI and have the alum crossover.

Also--the pi intake will take ATLEAST a day since it's best to let the RTV cure for many hours before you crank up.

Actually,

You want the 01+ PI intake with the aluminum crossover. 99 - 00 and some 01's had plastic crossovers.
