My npi motor was tired and missing 2 cylinders... So over the past week (off and on) I've been installing my newer 22k 03 mounty motor.

Things have gone ok so far. Had to swap the front cover, cam covers, oil pan/pick up, and they oil filter housing. That took a bit to tear them both down and put one back together. Put new motor/trans mounts in while we were there. Didn't have the money for a set of LT's and I so wish I did...... But, overall its been going ok. I have to install the radiator tonight and fan. Tighten the motor mounts to the k member and turn the key...

I didn't get pics b/c when I built my last car, we took a million and didn't do chit with them. I will get a vid of the first start up tonight though.

Just thought I'd share my project. The pi motor is paired with o/r h, flows, 4.10 gears, 75mm tb w/ported stock upper, live wire plugs, coil packs, c&l maf (thinking about putting a stocker back in), pulleys, alum d/s, pro 5.0 shifter, and a few other minor things.

Overall, I can't wait to drive the car w/a good motor. It had a traction problem with the blown one, so I assume the susp work is in my future.

Congrats on finishing (well soon to) your first major project on the car. Once you complete a project like that you gain confidence and are more willing to tackle other things which will save you tons of money in the long run as long as nothing goes majorly wrong Almost time to update your signature

My car has been down for many of months but I just couldn't see myself piecing it together without doing some things that I wanted to do in the first place.

I built a nasty 92 351 swap fox car last year.... built it all myself, even the motor. Would of been nasty had it not been for chit patriot perf head castings cracking and taking out a piston........

So this is by far my first project, just the first and hopefully only one to this car. I am just looking for a good solid mid 13 sec car to drive and have fun, yet not worry about it chitting out on me.

Have you figured out the problem yet? Did you recheck the timing?

Yep, I was looking at patriot heads because all the 'Stang mags said they where the best low buck heads but then I started hearing bad things (like yours) so I just got my stock E7's ported by Thumper.

I just got my 96' GT and just got my hands on a set of PI heads, looking for an intake now. Being that I am new to the 4.6 world, has anyone writen a decent article on PI swap for my reading?

1987stangman there are many articles/writeups with a large amount of pictures with step-by-step instructions If you search in 4.6 tech you'll find some of these articles and there are others posted on others sites (sn95forums being one of them).

Yep searched up last night and found lots of great information. The PI swap looks like a great way to get introduced to the 4.6 hands on!
