Hey people who have done this before...I am sitting here thinking about the task that is going to have to be done with the pi swap and I just dont feel like doing it how much do you think it would cost to have someone else do it?

I have received quotes ranging from 700 - 1300 bucks. It all depends on where you take it. You should try reading some of the write-ups on it. You might change your mind and DIY.

its not that hard to do really. as long as you have the tools needed and a little more than basic mechanical knowledge you can handle it. if you can get access to a hoist that will help out, personally i refuse to work on cars on jackstands unless i cant get access to one of the lifts within a few days. justmake sure that you have everything you need ahead of time. nothing is more annoying than having to stop working to go to the dealer or a parts store to pick up something you forgot.

you need the coolant tube that goes under the manifold, front timing cover gasket, head gaskets, head bolts(or studs which i prefer), new spark plugs(why not), intake manifold gaskets, i would also get a new water pump, and for a complete job get new timing chains and tensioners. also get some black silicone handy if you get the black stuff from ford you can get it in a caulking type tube that makes applying it a pice of cake. you will also need new valve covers if using the windsor heads. and then oil, oil filter, and coolant.

Nice list. seems pretty complete, but you left out two important things. Lots of patience and organization. Take pics if you can or mark everything somehow that you take loose. You'll be glad you did when you start putting nuts and bolts back into place.

what he said, plus cam/valve cover gaskets, new crank pulley bolt (it's a TTY). you also need the 8 upper timing cover bolts if ur heads are 99 or 00. they are 10mm versus the 8mm thats in there now. you dont NEED new timing cover gaskets. you can reuse ur old ones but just line them with RTV. i'd personally go with the head bolts versus the studs.

as for those 8 10mm bolts/studs, you'll need at least 3 studs (10mm/8mm front) to bolt the power steering bracket onto. they come in packs of 2 so just get 2 packs. i forget if the pass. side coil pack needs a stud.

you'll also need 2 more short 10mm bolts if ur heads are 99/00 for the rear bolt for the coolant tube, and for the bracket that the rubber EGR hose goes through.

the head changing kit comes with a romeo dip stick, again, if u have 99/00 heads, you'll need the windsor tube.

you dont need new tensioners/guides. you can reuse ur old ones. just get new chains if ur car has high miles. though mine looked fine at 112K miles, i'd still buy new ones.

im pretty sure thats it.
