bigcat start with the upper hole, and if more traction is May 1, 2005 3,015 1 79 7200 feet Apr 6, 2006 #2 Apr 6, 2006 #2 is that a direct bolt in, or do you have to swap the pinion flange like the others i have seen?
1 1fastz Member Sep 30, 2005 124 0 16 Apr 6, 2006 #3 Apr 6, 2006 #3 Pinion flange requires removal.. comes with the shaft btw for 549.00 its complete kit includes the bolts to bolt the flange to the drive shaft even. but as has been covered before if you remove the flange and then use red lock tite and retorque to 50 foot pounds you will be fine.. i worked at a ford dealer for almsto 4 years and did at least 5 trucks that exact same way while ther when replaceing rear pinion seals. you ask any dealer any where they will tell you you do not have to take the rear end apart to replace the pinion flange or the pinnion seal. the only way you could realy screw up is to go crazy on the pinion nut with a impact wrench and then crush the collar some more.
