Can someone walk me through how to replace a bad pick-up coil(PIP). Also would it just be worth the time any money to replace the whole distributor?

Also, I was told by a mechanic that the pick up coil is my problem, but to make sure here is my problem:
No spark. Not spark at dizzy or coil. I replaced the TFI and the ignition coil, still no spark at the coil. The coil has 12v going to it.

Also, if I get a new dizzy what kind of hear do I need steel or iron?

Not that it might help, but here is kind of a cool article (courtesy of Daggar). It pertains mostly to the TFI though.

I would probably toss a new dizzy in, if yours has some miles on it. Some folks breeze through the PIP R/R and some struggle with the gear and alignment. A bearing splitter helps with the gear.

Seems to me that rollers get Steel gears. MAKE sure someone says yes or no to that before acting. That is a way faint recollection of mine.

Good luck bud.

Yeah I tried to get the cam gear off(pins out), and that wasn't happening. So I just bought a new distributor. Guy at autozone said steel gear and the numbers all matched to i'm pretty sure it's right. Anyways, yes it started right up, nasty misfire but either the timing is way off or the gear is a tooth off. I don't have a timing light today so I'll check that later when I can.

Well seems I forgot to connect all the vacuum lines coming off the upper plenum. Guess that will cause running issues :)
