Just picked up a 1996 gt vert. it has 96k on the odometer and got it checked out by a ford dealership and it came back without one problem. i think i got a good deal for 6k. the only mods so far are a hurst short throw shifter, flowmasters, and a k&n. i wouldve loved to buy a 99+ gt, but im only 17 so money is hard to come by right now. let me know what you think.

bad news though ... a newly licensed 16 year old kid backed into my parked car. just my luck. luckily he didnt flee the scene. his dad came up and ripped him a new one. fortunatly they are paying out of their pocket for this because it would suck to have my insurance go higher than it is. so these pics are after the kid hit my car....

Nice car!

Sucks about the kid hitting you, but if it was his fault then your insurance wouldn't go up one penny

Wow your 17's are chrome, I've seen very few '96-'98s with that option. Nice car.

clean ass car besides the damage drivers seat looks to be in great shape. Buy some springs and exhaust and you'll have one bad ass first car

yeah, the chromed 17's are a nice little touch. and ,yes, the seats are in great condition. before the guy sold it, he put in new leather and a new top. (another reason why i think i got a good deal). and since im a new driver and dont know anything about insurance, i was told that even if its not my fault, my insurance might go up? oh well. thanks for the positive responses.

Hello. My friend had a GT vert identical to yours years ago. Back then I had an 87 GT. Everytime I went for a ride in his car, it made me feel like mine was a joke. I loved that smooth 4.6, improved build quality, and open top. The car just felt expensive compared to mine, and it was. It inspired me to purchas my 2001 GT.
Make the most out of that check they write you. If you have anything left over, get them to re-spay the front bumper or fix any chips you might have in the paint. Make your bad event a positive thing if you can.

Also, don't forget, it could have been worse. My luck, the kid would have hit me in the perfect angle to smash the fender, rim, door, and break the door window. All you need is a door. I hope that helps.

thanks for all the replies.. yeah im lucky that it was only the door panel. and now that i know who the kid is, i see him in school and i get tempted to jump him... but anyways, one gauge is the fuel/air ratio. and the other measures how much throttle you are giving it..dont know what its called... i got an estimate though today and it was alot worse than i thought. $2300!? i took it to service king (a pretty widespread body shop in north texas) and i think they are just trying to rip me off. i mean they even put on the estimate that i needed the GT 4.6 emblem, which was untouched and its not even on the door panel. oh well. im getting more estimates tommorow. wish me luck. i just want these people to pay and to get it over with...

Welcome and congrats. My stang is almost identical to yours except I have satin aluminum split-spokes. That is a clean ride and that is not a bad price for a vert. Another nice thing is mods are fairly cheap for these beasts and a lot of parts from the newer 99+ GT's, Cobras and Mach 1's will bolt on. All that car needs is some lowering springs.

Welcome to Stangnet.
Nice mustang you got their and you got it for a really great price too.
A good paint and body shop could fix that no problem.
Good luck with your car.
