Pics of quarter window trim covers

Whats up guys, I am repainting all my trim right now and was looking into getting those covers for the quarter windows. The glue on covers for the trim, I searched around and no one has any pics. Any of you guys on here have them.

Got new tail lights from blue oval ind. nice piece, they leaked a little, so I removed the lenses and siliconed them on, no more leaks.

I did use them and the response from every single person who sees them is.....nothing, no one person has noticed to date and that's EXACTLY what I wanted. I have had some excellent comments regarding trim condition but no one has noticed they were not the factory moldings.
What needs to be done:

Find a auto body supply shop and ask for the 'best' available adhesive for plastic to plastic/metal...then throw the supplied adhesive away.

Test fit the moldings to ensure a flush and clean fit...fit them several times and find a few reference marks so when you apply the moldings you don't make a mess moving the molding into place getting adhesive all over the glass and body of the car. Place masking tape over the shown face of the new molding if you'd like to allow you to handle the molding and not get adhesive on it...use the tape to allow you safe areas to handle the molding without touching the molding surface directly. When the adhesive dries you can simply remove the masking tape from the trim and have no worries about residue on shown surface

Carefully scuff the original moldings with 120 grit paper then clean with windex several times to remove any existing wax or shine products.

Apply the molding to the car with several (10 plus) pcs of precut DUCT tape (excellent grip,easily reomved without damage to finish)to secure the molding in several locations to the body securely and firm to allow the adhesive to bite while keeping the molding tight against the body....allow the moldings to sit for 24 hours to dry before removing the tape...more if possible.

Pretty much it...NOTE once the tape is in place wipe any excess adhesive right away or you may have to get used to it being on the window glass or body for some time to come

Pretty much it..when done right they are a very affordable alternative to replacement when the original molding are too far gone to be refurbished...as mine were too far damaged.

Nice dman, I cannot tell at all. Thats great and will make a great improvment for my car. Just removed all the trim, mirrors, wipers and cowling and have been painting them. Now with this, the car will look 100 x better. Thanks

I've had mine for about 3 yrs now. No one seems to really notice them. I tried urethane adhesive but it was too strong and it cracked the covers because it did not allow them to flex at all. I like the silicone adhesive black in color. It doesn't take that much really. When I first put one on, I thought they had to be like glued to the car too, but really they just need to glue to the current rubber trim.

I looked into these a while back when the only alternative was Ford replacement quarters for an arm and two legs. I looked at a few cars that had them instaled and I didn't exactly care for them because although they look very nice, up close I was able to tell they were covers because they stick out from the car a little bit (or at least the ones I saw did). Also, I looked at a set to buy and to me they just didn't look to be that great quality. What I ended up doing was getting a VERY nice set of used quarters for $100 when I went down to Carlisle and I did a little finishing work on them. Anyway, what I'm getting at is it all depends on how perfect you want your car to be. personally I am a perfectionist and neat freak so I had to get the original thing. If you are just looking for a decent fix that looks pretty good for what it is, go for the covers. Worst comes to worst you take them off and eventually replace the entire quarter window, which you can now buy as an aftermarket piece. Whatever you decide, good luck and have fun!

Definately a good opinion but as I have experience, when you have show judges going over the car...and they don't notice...I think they do nicely. I too have been refered to as somewhat of a 'perfectionist' and I am very pleased with the covers. Now when the day comes that I have the option to upgrade to new windows...yes I will probably take the jump but as of now, the need is met.

Hey dman which ones did you get. I was on blue oval industries. I am buying new belt molding, quarter trim covers, and mabe new door handles. I really want the best quality stuff.
And habiv thanks for the info, I too like perfection but relized that it can never be obtained unless your car sits in the garage and is never driven. But this car will not be a full out show car, just a weekend show/crusier. A long work in process. And if you have seen pics of dmans car you would know that he is def a perfectionist. Right now I am trying to make it look better for the spring. I will be installing a new t5 in the spring also. And the money pit keeps on frowing, lol.

:OT: This isn't really relevent to the topic but I was courious to know what brand of rear bumper cover that is. That looks really nice on a GT with full tail pipes.

Thanks for the nice comments guys...really appreciate it. As for the 'DECH' bumper ABC makes a copy without the lettering, since dech is no longer available the ABC bumper is the only alternative. Several people along the way have said it might look better without the lettering so if you get one...make sure to let us see it.

i bought some of these moulding covers from mustangsunlimited and used the adheasive that came with them and that was a huge mistake. still trying to figure out what will work the best. i think that i am going to try using some urethane but i still have to get the rest of that other crap off!

DO NOT USE URETHANE, USE RTV SILICONE ADHESIVE!!!!

The first time I put mine on, I used the rtv silicone adhesive. It dried too quickly to get it on the car to stick. I then went to a glass place and bought urethane. It was looking great untill I found out that the urethane allows for no flex on the covers and the covers will crack and break.

I found the rtv silicone adhesive at a parts store in a caulk size tube that made it easier to apply quickly. The thing to keep in mind, the covers just need to be glued to the 1/4 window trim, not the car. It really doesn't take as much as I thought to put them on. After redoing the windows 2 times now, its a lot easier. Use electrical tape or masking tape to hold them on for 24 hrs before driving with them.

Also make sure to trim them to fit first. I used my dremel with a cutting bit. If you have anymore questions on the install, pm or post , would be glad to help.

Wow back from the dead....hey 87 that sounds great!! I 'think' Jeff said he was coming down this summer if we held the BBQ/dyno day..in that case I'll owe him one and have to come down and spend the day with you two. As for your car...like Jeffs I think you two have taken it to another level for fox body show cars here in Canada...I really look forward to seeing and learning a bit about the work you've done.
