I just picked up a Steeda Strut Tower Brace and lower K-member brace.....or at least what i think are Steeda peices. Does anyone have any pics so i can compare just to confirm?

Also, about the install...i don't have any of the bolts. How does it attach? is it just a bolt and nut through each strut tower? Also, will the steeda peices work when i pick up some Max Motorsports C/C plates later on?

The one downside is the previous owner has these installed on his '93 Cobra and had the STB powerdercoated Teal to match the car. Not sure if i should attempt to paint the STB black or leave it as is and some day in the spring/summer i'll have it powedercoated black.

I have the steeda strut-tower brace.

It mounts with standard bolts. Mine happen to have hex-nut fittings that you can hand-screw in, but that's just for looks I suppose. Two bolts go into the firewall, and then three on each strut tower.

The brace didn't fit my passenger side tower quite right, i ended up having to stuff a spacer under part of it.

This is a *very* old picture of my engine. It's before I did any work to it, but the most recent, and clearest, shots I took don't have it on.

Well, that;s the brace i have....only it's '93 cobra teal.

I also have the 2-point brace. Now just time to get some hardware and install them

The second pic is for a 94-98 Mustang, I have one that looks just like that, which leads me to believe that it's made by Steeda

Ok now for the second question? how do i install these?

FOr the 2-point brace, do the holes already exist in the K-member? I assume i just get some bolts and nuts and washers and bolt it in using existing holes? Or do i need to drill?

For the STB, i guess i need to drill right? Then i just use some bolts through the strut tower and nuts with lock washers?

on the brace i have you don't have to dril, just slip in some bolts, but it's also for a SN95, so it might be different, some braces require you to drill

As for the k-member brace I believe all you have to do it bolt it up

Mike, are you planning to auto-x your car or any kindof road racing? you seem to like the handling and braking mods,

Oh yeah, i want to get into it very badly. I'm already thinking full coil-over conversion for the '88. I want to set up this car as the corner carver for auto-x and maybe some road racing

The '85 on the other hand. Well, lets just say the only turn it will ever take is at the end of the 1/4 mile

lol, maybe you can join my Brother, Bob and Myself when we go in 6 more months, the events are awesome, lots of nice people, and a HUGE Auto-x track.....if you want to tag along next season, then your more than welcome, it's so much fun, I like it more than drag racing...

The 2-point you just pull the old bolts out, and put it on using the new, longer bolts. Dang easy. I have the 4-pt KB brace, and it went on w/o a problem.

For the strut tower, I had to drill all the holes. Use a cobalt drill bit, and a good drill. some of that steel is over 1/4" thick, and will chew apart a standard bit.

I, myself, am looking into buying the steeda g trac brace which bolts to the k member. From what I got from their website, you need to drill two holes and bolt the brace in. Ford started doing this in 1994. I think from then on you can just bolt it up. Hope this helps. I have an 87 lx 5.0 that has sub frames and I will add the lower brace with the stb eventually. I want the car to handle like its on rails.
