picture of ported cobra lower?

I don't know what they used, but it is very smooth. No mirror like finish, but smooth. I compared it to a mildy ported gt40 lower I had in my garage, and let me tell you.."night and day" difference in the port work. It's amazing how they were able to port it to the max, and that's without any cutting or re-welding. fine quality work!

I could snap some pictures of my TMoss ported lower, but I have no way of shrinking them down, and I have no way of hosting them. The pictures come out HUGE (1' x 2'). Don't ask, because I don't know. I can barely get onto Stangnet without running into problems...

BTW, what is that port opened up to? A 1250? Tom's prep work is much neater than Bennett's....

ported to 1250

I'm sure Tom's work is nice, but anyway.... Bennett was who did the work. It was opened up to felpro 1250 gaskets, and it can't be that bad considering it was swapped from my 10 second hatch back that I had. I'm using it now on my 327 stroker motor(prepped for juice), and I'd expect it to run fairly well with the setup. So bottom line is, I'm not complaining.

That flange face is opened up to the full 1250 dimension. I do that sometimes, but most of the time I port to just larger than the head pushrod pinch (if there is one) or to within the tolerance of the head manufacturer (i.e. .030" for Edelbrock) to ensure no "lip" is presented at the head. Most of the benefit of my port work comes from reshaping back inside the runner - not opening up the face flange to the max. I will do that but I need to have the head in my possesion to do it to be sure there are no "lips" at the head. Bennett is an excellent shop and I bet they had the heads to match those runners to. Ar eyou sure that's not a 1262 gasket match? Or is the picture resized/distorted a little?

Oh, I use a single cut aluminum bit for rough cutting and finish with a double cut bit that I lube with silicone spray. There are pics of a AFR ported Cobra lower on the web site in my signature.

I was told it was matched to a 1250, but you know more about port work than I, so it's possible it is larger. I got this intake some time ago, so I can't even accurately recall. I'm satisfied though, cause it has been a proven performance piece for me.
