Pictures of long tubes installed?

I'm trying to decide if Im going to switch over to LT's. I currently run JBA shorties. But I dont see what the big difference really is between the 2. If there is one at all. Talk to me.
There is a huge difference between shorties and LTs.
Primary pipe length affects more than you might think.

More torque, power, flatter power band, more engine cooling, and more mpg.

Thanks! I'm hoping to get a little more with the fox headers because the most obvious obstacle to more ground clearance on our cars is the 7-o'clock clutch fork position. I'm hoping that the fox BBKs take advantage of the 9-o'clock position on the that car's bellhousing. I remember my '86 GT had more power and even sounded more refined when I switched to long tubes from shorties.

That's something that would be worth calling BBK tech support about. I believe that the only difference is that they set headers out a little bit to clear the fork, not physically move the collection point down on the SN. I'm not sure your assertion that there will be more ground clearance is correct.

Yeah, I see what you mean. That's why I wanted the pictures. I've done everything to try to discern the difference but call them and ask.

i have 1-5/8 bbks on mine now, but would like to go to 1-3/4 are you saying the fox ones fit ok?

I talked to BBK about this. They make one set of headers in 1 and 3/4" that fits both the Fox and the SN. However, it does not have a provision for the EGR. I can't remember the part number off the top of my head, and it doesn't specifically say SN on their website. Give them a call, and they will tell you.

I would check out what Kurt mentioned concerning the BBK 1¾" headers. From what I've read and observed, fox headers don't fit SN95 5.0s only because of the '94-'95-specific bellhousing/clutch fork. In order to use fox headers on an SN95, we need to install a fox bellhousing, clutch fork, input shaft (the '94-'95 5.0s have a longer input shaft) and a longer driveshaft or a spacer to accommodate the shorter setup. This is what I'm planning to do on my car.

ok great i dont need the egr any way thanks ,i like how my bbks fit i just want to move up to bigger ones

You are in same boat as I am. But I would definately go with the advice above, and not take my word for it. A phone call to BBK doesn't cost you anything. This is what the customer service guy told me. They have a different set for the FOX and the SN in 1 and 5/8" headers, but they recently created a single 1 and 3/4" header that fits on both cars. I talked to them about a year ago.

This is what I did. Tremec tko600/ bellhousing and longer driveshaft. I also do not have an egr and didn't want the ugly bung with a cap. I like the fit of my bbk 1 3/4 fox headers. The ground clearance is not great, but none of the ones I've installed have been much better. I'm using the same setup on my current project.

Thanks for that info Kevin. I have a 3550 which has the fox style bellhousing. I had always heard you could use Fox headers, but I now know someone who has done it.

The lack of an O2 bung was my original reason for wanting fox headers. My hooker headers accomplished that, but now I need ground clearance. Haha. I have a sad history of doing everything at least twice on this car and those before it. :)

Edit: did you have a longer driveshaft custom made?

I think most of us share the same history.
Yes...I cut my aluminum driveshaft in half and welded in a new section. Took it to my machine shop and had it balanced.

For my 1-3/4" LT's w/ 3" Collector I had a QA1 Tubular K-Member which made the install cake. Only thing I needed was the O2 extenders I bought at Steeda. I don't think the FOX LT's will work with stock K-Member and aftermarket transmission from what I remember. BBK and MAC make 94-95 Specific long tubes anyway that bolt right up. I've had 5 exhaust systems- Stainless Steel, Chrome (3 times) and Ceramic. Make sure you get the ceramic coated LT's. Or get them unfinished and send them to someone for coating. MAC has a distribution center here in Florida so I went and spoke with the sales rep before pulling the trigger. I bought the entire system headers to tailpipes.

The only problem I see with that is that it does not accomodate people that have eliminated their smog and don't want the bung sticking up AND have converted to a Fox T5 with the traditional clutch lever location. I think those are the reasons for using Fox headers.

Are the K-members that much different?

Take a look here:
(I haven't read it yet, but it should be interesting. I'll have to check it out later.)

Well, it's was a link to another site with good info, but apparently that site is frowned upon here. It wouldn't let me post the link.
It is a sticky on using Fox l0ng tubes in SN cars. :(

The lack of EGR was my original reason for wanting fox long tubes. From the first day I lifted a hood on an sn95 5.0 I've always despised the EGR tube.

Would it be ok to send it in a message? I'd like to see what it has to say.
