PiMPxs vs MS3 (Pro?) vs PNP MS2

So each injector driver is capable of firing 6 high impedance injectors at one time. So each pair of complimentary cylinders are wired together on each bank.
Ie.... just like wasted spark but with 2 drivers instead of 4.
So in standard trim the ms3 can fire 6 injectors per bank or 12 injectors with 2 drivers.

Now when you add the ms3x card to the ms3 it gives you 8 injector drivers, so each injector will have it's own output driver.
I feel like i just created more questions.

Just get the pimpxs

This is the best MS Platform for our cars along with the plug-n-play aspect is awesome. This is whats going in my red mustang so I can move the MS2 to my black mustang.

The pimp is essentially a purpose built ms3x, they have the same capabilities.

Yes we have talked about this. However the pimpxs is specific to mustang case and harness. I guess one could pin a harness for a different application if necessary.

Mine may not always be that being i have an LS1 and a few 5.3s in the barn, form the junkyards back when they had $125 you pull it.

I would to prefer to learn the process of using the ms3, which i could build to any application. i.e making a cable either from example or trial an error on my part.

Which one question came to mind today:
ms3x vs ms3 with exspansion board. What is the purpose of buying them separate except to save cost or just get intial set up with batch and add sequential later.

I always price things out with budget in mind... If I were to do one there is no way i would do anything less than a MS3x.

This is prebuilt = you dont have to solder the ECU together yourself

you can save money by building the MS3 yourself hince the DIY portion..... I like to assemble them personally but im a nerd like that.

this one is a great value and is water proof... you can also buy drop on LS harness for this guy in the future.

and if your jumping off the deepend...

So with budget in mind for the current set up.
I will also need

And to cannibalize or buy

Thought this was interesting but not relevant

I actually just used one of those rotunda cables to extend my ECU to under the passenger seat.

My rotunda harness was more like an extension harness though.. it did not look like the one pictured.

Depending on how much of the stock harness you want to retain.... you can use the rotunda harness and splice into it leaving the factory harness intact.

The 60pin you showed needs a Bob(break out board) so you can wire to it.

with this harness you will be able to cut off the end that would plug into the ECU and use it as a pigtail to tie into the MS3 harness... now if you want to save money you could then pin the rotunda harness to the ms3 connectors, but this requires some soldering skill...

If you tie the rotunda harness into the MS3 harness you can then leave the extra unused cable tied out of the way under the carpet for future expansion.... like if you decide you want to do LS coils and such then you can just take the needed wires into the engine compartment and wire away.

So rotunda to the ms3 harness, then rotunda to engine harness leaving a few wires/pins left to hook up cool widgets later

Why would i have to cut the end off the harness on the first option? Is it to soldering the ms wires directly to engine harness?

Can one just take the ecu pinout end and pin the ms harness into that and plug in to engine harness.

Yes this would be like the PiMP but instead the ms3 daughter board in the ecu case. It would be the standalone ms3 that i can interchange out engines later.

Also im watching Mustang5L5 currently being its a hop skip ahead.

I'm lurking in here just to see what direction you are going in.

SO I bought the MS3 kit and the expansion card. I preferred the DIY since I enjoy that sort of stuff. I did claim steve's extra Rotunda cable, but I am not sure about the interface into the MS3 yet. Do I need to buy this?

24" cable so it gives me some options as to where to put the MS as it may not fit in the stock location (or will it).

I'll probably end up starting a thread in the digital forum when I start assembling the MS in the next week or so.

the rotunda harness plugs into the factory harness, you then cut off the end that would plug into the ECU and wire that to the ms3 harness or solder it to the ms3 connector. Your choice. Wiring is easier if you cant solder, and no worries about a questionable solder joint.
